Technology Takes Over!

Technology is your friend. No, really! If you need to know anything about your student’s progress or happenings at Steele, all you need to do is log on to a computer. You’ll find the information you need at your fingertips. Here are some ways to use technology to keep updated:
  • Parent Gradebook Viewer (available at https://hac.nisdtx.org/homeaccess/ )

You should have received a Parent log-in ID and password at registration or Open House. If you did not, please come to the office to get yours! You can set email alerts for grades and absences that will come to you in real time-you’ll always know your student’s grades and attendance. **Please note-Progress Reports and Report Cards WILL NOT be printed and sent home this year. Parents must log on to Gradebook to view those.** On Target Tuesdays, students will be required to log in to their gradebook viewer (a little different than yours) to review grades.

  • Netschool (http://moodle.nisdtx.org/)

Netschool is an online platform that enhances student learning by allowing 24 hour access to lessons. Teachers post schedules, lesson plans, podcasts, assignments, and handouts for student and parent availability. If you ask your student "What did you do at school today?" and the response is "Nothing," YOU can look at the classes online and get a little more detail than that.

  • Steele AHS Website (http://www.sahs.nisdtx.org)

Our website is available either at the address above or directly through the NISD district website. Information for parents, students, community members, and prospective students can be found on the drop down links at the top of the page. The Staff link will get you contact information to each teacher on campus. Make sure you check out the "Events" page!

  • Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/pages/James-M-Steele-Accelerated-High-School/209082625820305?sk=wall)

Yes, Steele is on Facebook. Students are on it all the time, so we figured we should be as well. "Like" us to get updated information.

Sometimes, technology can be a little overwhelming or intimidating, but we’re here to help! "How to" handouts are available in the front office, or we can send one home with your student. As always, thanks for supporting our campus and our students!

Internet safety is important to all of us-that's why we are proud to be a Common Sense School for 2016 and 2017!  Here is a page that was sent to me by a student outside our district who was doing research on internet safety-it has a LOT of great information for students AND parents!  (Thanks, Peyton!)
